TEXTURIZING WALLS
Brown Paper Walls
In my basement I have a little hall that goes to the guest bath and downstairs bedroom. It is a dull and dark hall to I thought it really needed some texture to spice up the little hall. I decided to try the brown paper floor technique on the wall. The basement has a very earthy feel to it and I felt this method really matched the overall theme.

Add Color and Texture to the Ceiling
Here is my ceiling of the little hall in the basement.....drab and boring right. So I decided why not add some texture...some color...the chicly cheap decor touch. So I decided to paint it!

Roll on the Texture- Cardboard Style
In the process of transforming my kids playroom I discovered a quick and easy way to add texture to a wall.....roll it on (for more on playroom transformation see my blog "Whats in Progress"). LIterally I took a piece of coardboard peeled to the ribbed side and stapled it to a paint roller.

Customize Kitchen with Textured Paint
I have a kitchen bar that was white. The problem was that my kids ate there, so it never stayed white. So, I decided to add paint to it. I found a kit a Lowe's for adding stone texture to paint, so I decided to give it a try.
Add Texture to Paint
I added the desired amount of texture to the paint (I added 3/4 a bag of texture to half a container of paint). Mix it well before pouring into paint container. Then, just simply roll on the paint applying medium pressure.
Add Extra Texture
I decided I wanted to add more texture. So, I got a darker colored brown. To apply the brown I took a piece of paper and crumbled it up. Lightly dip the paper in the dark brown paint. Sparingly dabbed the dark brown paint on the textured wall.
After applying the dark brown paint. Do the same with the base color (texturized paint). Use a piece of crumbled up paper to dab into the textured paint. Lightly dab textured paint over the dark brown paint to even it out.
Glitter Ceiling
I saw on-line someone made glitter paint simply by adding glitter to a Elmers glue so I decided to try it and use it for a ceiling in a nursery. So, I took a container of silver glitter (found at walmart in the craft section) and added it to Elmers glue. I expected this to paint right on, but I have to confess the process was very time consuming and messy. The glitter had a tendancy to clump. It was easier to paint on with a brush then to roll it on. After it dried all you saw was the glitter. Though it was a messy and frustrating process, in the end I think it added the extra little sparkle to the room I was looking for.
