Staining Upholstered Furniture
Ok, I know this is weird but bare with me! I bought these vintage chairs from a thrift store and just fell in love with the structure. I fully intended to recover the fabric. After a trip to the fabric store I became completely overwhelmed. There were so many different fabrics...patterns...material...colors. My husband told me until the chairs were covered they needed to go in the garage, he couldn't stand the floral. Talk about pressure! :) Then I stumbled up the idea of "painting" furniture. I had leftover stain from the brown paper flooring and thought what it there to lose. If it turned out bad I would just be force to recover the chairs.
Stain Time!!!!
Using a 2" brush with SHORT bristles I began staining the fabric of the chair. I use the dark walnut floor stain that I had leftover. On the first layer apply a thin layer. Let it dry over 24 hours. Because I had floral print I had to apply a total of 3 layers. Between each layer let dry 24 hours. I also painted the legs of the chair light tan to add extra character!

Transform a Basic Chair
When we moved into this house there were a couple of chairs left over. Clearly they used these chairs while painting. The upholstery and the frame was covered with different colors of paint. Overall though the frame and shape of the chair was in good shape. With a little bit of paint and stain we have a brand new chicly cheap chair!
The Power of Stain and Paint
First I took the seat of the chair off. I found this bronze spray paint from Lowes that really matched the room I was using the chair in. Once the seat was removed I spray painted the frame of the chair.
THen I took ebony stain and once again painted upholstery. I put the first layer on and let it dry over night. The next day I added the second layer. You
may need to do 3-4 layers depending on what pattern the pattern has underneath. It took about 2 days for the chair to completely dry. Check out my new chicly
