Brown Paper Technique Has No Limits
Don't limit the brown paper technique just to floors.... it is a cheap and easy way to update furniture. Furniture tops such as table tops and dressers have a tendency to get water damage which can warp the wood. Don't throw the piece of furnitre out, update it! I had this dresser for my girls room that I love but the top got water damage. I decided I had nothing to lose so I decided to paper the top. Follow the same steps as layed out under the brown paper flooring tab.
Paper Table Tops
My daughters Tinkerbelle table used to have a plastic top, but the girls had ripped it and colored all over it. I decided to rip the plastic off and paper the top with the brown paper tech. (follow as same steps as on Brown Paper Flooring tab). WIth a little bit of work I transformed the Tinkerbelle table into a chicly cheap kids table.
Play with Patterns
Ok, so I already tried papering the tops of dressers and really like the earthy look I got. So I decided to take it a step further and add some patterns, a little more texture to the paper. At Target I found this wrapping paper that is brown paper with floral print.

From Drab to Fab with Foil
I found this unique looking piece of furniture and it gave me a unique idea. It had a hole in the side of it (I think it was used as some sort of tool shelf). I decided to go with the hole theme and drill hole all down the side to give it a modern look.
Add Some Shimmmer with Foil
After I got the general shape and design I started adding the shimmer. I wanted a very modern and unique look so I decided to foil the top of the desk, yes aluminum foil. I took aluminum foil and tore off various size pieces. I would crumple it up and then reopen it. With a glue mixture of one part glue to one part water I would paint it on both sides of the foil and press it into place.
Finish it Up with Paint
While the foil was drying I painted the rest of the desk black, to continue with the modern sleek look. The nest day I took a little bit of black pain and smeared it on the top of the foil, give it an aged look. I used a paint brush to lightly paint black on and then followed up with a rag to smear the color around. Then I took copper spray paint and lightly misted the copper on the foil.

Almost every room in this house has a ceiling fan, which is nice, but they are very dated! Ceiling fans can be expensie to replace, especially with how many I have to replace. So I decided to paint the fan blades to match the room decor. Also, I spray painted the metal parts to quicky give the fan an updated look! Check out my chicly cheap ceiling fans!
